WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU DRAW?

I mainly draw pets and wildlife but I have previously been commissioned to draw buildings and people. Feel free to contact me and we can discuss what you would like me to draw.

HOW MANY PHOTOS SHOULD I SEND YOU?

The more the better! I will ideally need at least one high quality photo to use for the outline and to see the textures clearly. I then encourage you send additional ones so I can work between them to get the colouring and other details accurate. Please send any photos to lucy@lucygrayartist.co.uk

I DON'T HAVE A GOOD QUALITY PHOTO, COULD YOU STILL DRAW FROM WHAT I HAVE?

A lot of my previous commissions are of pets who have sadly passed. If this is the case with your pet then send me whatever photos you have and I will see what I can do.

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE?

Each portrait is drawn on Fabriano Artistico Hard Pressed paper using a range of professional pencils such as Faber-Castell Polychomos, Derwent Lightfast, Caran D’ache Luminance, and Caran D’ache Pablos.

SEE THE PROCESS OR BE A SURPRISE?

If you would like to see photos as I draw then please let me know - the portraits can take a few weeks to draw so it is a good way to stay in the loop. You can also request for your drawing to be a surprise - I can still send you updates letting you know what stage I am at but only send a photo at the end.

I REALLY WANT A PORTRAIT DONE FOR A SPECIFIC DATE, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

This will depend on my availability and if I will be able to complete the drawing in time. Please contact me and we can discuss if this is possible.

WHAT IS THE PAYMENT PROCESS?

50% of the payment (non-refundable) is required to secure your booking and I will need to have received this before I can begin drawing. The remaining 50% is will be made once you are happy with the finished portrait - this is required before I can post your order. All payments will be done through PayPal invoice - you don't need a PayPal account for this as the invoice will be sent to your email for you to pay through.

I WANT TO BOOK IN A PORTRAIT BUT THE PAYMENT IS A LOT TO PAY AT ONCE, DO YOU OFFER A PAYMENT PLAN?

If you are hesitant about paying in two payments then you can let me know and we can discuss the option of a payment plan. This option would involve us discussing a more suitable payment percentage to be paid over a longer period of time. Keep in mind that each payment you make will be non-refundable as the work would have began. Also once the portrait is complete, I would not be posting it to you until I have received your final payment. This option wouldn't be suitable if you are needing the portrait soon after booking.

IS MY PET PORTRAIT REFUNDABLE?

The 50% deposit is not-refundable. You have the option to request progress photos as I draw and can mention any changes you feel are necessary. Regardless of if you request progress photos or if you want it to be a surprise, I will be sending a photo of the finished portrait for you to check over - here you can request any final small alterations. Once you have approved the final drawing, I will require your final payment before posting your order. Once this has been posted there can be no refunds.
